There are 44 National Parks in Türkiye, which aim to protect the diverse natural wonders in the country. The protected areas span environments from under to the sea to the tops of the mountains. The National Park designation helps protect the local wildlife, birdlife, and plant life in each area, and allows everyone to enjoy the natural beauty of each place. Often the designation also protects the cultural heritage of a place. Some of the highlights of the many national parks include Mt. Nemrut and its disembodied heads, Göreme’s fairy chimney rock formations, the Lycian ruins at Olympos, the lush nature of Yedigöller, Uludağ’s mountain beauty, and the dramatic mountainscapes of the Kaçkars.
