park & gardens
Cities and towns throughout Türkiye are dotted with public parks and gardens. Some are lush and manicured, others are smaller and quiet, but all serve as green lungs in populated locations. Some have historical origins, like Gülhane Park in İstanbul, which used to be part of the Topkapı Palace grounds, or Yıldız Park, which were Ottoman hunting grounds. Others are modern creations made when cities rose up around them. Gardens like Atatürk Arboretum in İstanbul, Hevsel Gardens in Diyarbakır, and the Turkish Parliament’s Garden in Ankara are filled with landscaped flowers and plants and are all open and free to the public.
