Did you know that Türkiye has the second-largest breeding area in the Mediterranean for the endangered sea turtle species Caretta-Caretta? Unfortunately, these beautiful animals are facing extinction due to various natural and man-made threats. But do not worry, they are safe in Türkiye!

The Caretta-Caretta have the İztuzu beach in Dalyan to themselves, where they lay their eggs, breed, and run into the sea once they hatch. There is even a museum hospital set up, especially for carettas. You can reach it with a short drive from İztuzu beach.

Other important places where you can see Caretta Carettas include Patara and Olympos beaches of Antalya along the Turkish Riviera, Anamur beach in Mersin, and Yumurtalık beach in Adana.
